The Opportunity
To ensure the successful financial completion of projects, protecting the exposure of the business to financial risks, while ensuring full adherence to established commercial procedures. You will be responsible for the commercial management of either a section of a large project or multiple smaller projects.

What you will be doing

Coordinating with, reporting to, and implementing the reasonable directives of the Regional Director/Manager and the Commercial Manager (functional reporting).

Ensuring the timely submission of all relevant data required to monitor and analyse individual contract performance on a monthly and quarterly basis.

Liaising with Contracts Managers on the day-to-day commercial administration of contracts to ensure the financial success of construction operations and keeping the Commercial Manager informed of all material events.

Preparing accurate draft sub-contracts or approving such drafts as prepared by the Commercial Team within the region.

Supervising, mentoring, and encouraging junior staff in their professional development.

Working with contracts management to ensure all necessary notices and submissions required under various forms of contract are issued in a timely manner.

Ensuring main contract payment applications contain all necessary admeasure/additional cost claims, with the timely submission of detailed claims and final accounts.

Assisting the Contracts Manager in administering sub-contractor performance to achieve economic and timely completion of all sub-contract obligations.

Ensuring prompt and regular submission of main contract payment applications and subsequent cash collection, along with preparing sub-contractor payments in line with agreed terms.

Contributing to dispute avoidance and resolution processes.

Managing and leading meetings as required.

Providing line management to members of the commercial team.

What we will need from you

Strong and comprehensive understanding of the construction industry and its stakeholders.

Proficient knowledge of measurement and valuation.

Solid understanding of standard forms of contract.

Ability to interpret drawings, specifications, and the construction process.

Skilled in negotiating with clients/sub-contractors and drafting sub-contracts.

Knowledge of CIS regulations.

Ability to produce accurate monthly cost/value reports and outturn financial forecasts.

Team-oriented approach with strong collaboration skills.

Awareness of dispute procedures and resolution strategies.

Experience in risk assessment and valuation in coordination with project teams.

Demonstrated success in delivering live projects through to final account.

Experience in value engineering and dispute resolution.

Proven track record of procuring major works sub-contracts.

Professional membership of a recognised institute (e.g., RICS) is desirable.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office packages, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.

Experience in managing, mentoring, and developing staff.

Experience in health, education, mixed-use, and commercial projects is highly desirable.
