Overview

Ford Halewood Transmission Limited (FHTL) develops and manufactures transmissions with an employee workforce of circa 600 people. The plant has a proud 60‑year history as a local employer and is dedicated to manufacturing high‑quality products. Ford is investing up to £230 million at the facility to transform it to build electric power units for future all‑electric passenger and commercial vehicles.


Role

The Measurement Room Specialist will be part of the plant Quality Department, working in both metrology and metallurgical laboratories to measure internal and externally purchased components. You will collaborate with a varied range of teams—including engineers, management, production, and maintenance personnel—to deliver projects and services that support an advanced automotive manufacturing environment transitioning into a world leader in electric vehicle powertrains.

Hours

Flexible to work any shift pattern aligned with business requirements.

Typical shifts include:

* Monday to Thursday: 7:00–15:30 (Standard); 3‑shift option available
* Friday: 7:00–12:30 (Standard); 3‑shift option available
* Early shift – Monday: 6:30 am–3 pm; Tuesday–Thursday: 7 am–3 pm; Friday: 7 am–12 pm
* Late shift – Monday–Thursday: 3 pm–11 pm; Friday: 12 pm–5:30 pm
* Night shift – Monday–Thursday: 11 pm–7 am; Friday: 5:30 pm–11 pm

If you work shifts, a 27.5 % shift allowance is provided.


Qualifications and Experience Required

* Completed Mechanical/Electrical apprenticeship or an HNC/HND equivalent in a relevant subject
* Good knowledge of measurement principles and processes
* Background in metrology laboratory measurement preferable
* Computer literacy – good knowledge of Word and Excel
* Strong communication skills
* The ability to read engineering drawings
* Self‑motivated, adaptable and willing to learn
* Proven ability to work in a team, being self‑motivated and flexible
* Good understanding of 5S and workplace organisation

External training will be provided to gain further experience, along with a comprehensive internal training plan.


Key Responsibilities

* Support commissioning of new measurement equipment
* Measure internal and external purchased components using laboratory equipment
* Support the development of test methods and continuous improvement opportunities
* Produce measurement reports for components measured
* Assist with quality investigations providing measuring support
* Work within a team to ensure tasks are in line with targets
