Job Description
Our client is a leading provider of low-carbon energy solutions, specialising in the design and installation of advanced Energy Centres that deliver efficient heating and cooling systems across the UK. They are seeking an accomplished Project Manager to drive the delivery of Low Carbon Heat projects, with a particular focus on District Heating and Heat Network infrastructure.
The Project Manager will oversee the full project lifecycle from construction planning through to commissioning ensuring the safe, compliant, and cost-effective installation of buried heat networks, energy centre plant, and building connection works. The role demands strong technical oversight, rigorous quality control, and adherence to all relevant industry standards throughout project execution.
Roles and Responsibilities:
* Lead the delivery of district heating and low-carbon heat projects from mobilisation to completion.
* Oversee the installation of buried distribution networks, energy centres, and building interface connections.
* Develop project programmes, phasing plans, and resource schedules, ensuring alignment with contractual milestones.
* Ensure all Mechanical & Electrical (M&E) installation activities are properly planned, coordinated, and quality-controlled.
* Manage site-based installation teams, subcontractors, and specialist suppliers.
* Conduct regular site reviews, progress meetings, and performance assessments.
* Ensure the technical integrity of heat network installations, including pipe networks, heat interface units, pumps, boilers/CHPs, LTHW systems, controls, and associated electrical works.
* Review engineering designs, method statements, and technical submissions.
* Manage commissioning planning and oversee testing, flushing, insulation works, and final handover documentation.
* Ensure projects are delivered within budget and that commercial risks are mitigated.
Skills and Experiences:
* Degree or HND in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, or related discipline) or equivalent experience.
* Proven experience and strong working knowledge district heating networks
* Demonstrable track record of managing multidisciplinary site teams.
* Excellent project planning and organisational skills, with proficiency in project controls.
* Strong understanding of CDM, H&S regulations, industry standards, and utility/energy infrastructure best practice.
* Effective communication and relationship-management skills.
* Project management qualification (APM, Prince2, or similar) beneficial.
* CSCS/SMSTS or similar site management certification.
