You are invited to apply as a Commercial Assurance and Framework Management (CAFM) Team member at the Environment Agency, focusing on the commercial governance of contracts with key consultancies and contractors. This role supports cross‑country commercial assurance, sets up and manages pathfinder programmes, and champions effective governance to deliver value for money.
Our work goes beyond flood risk management; it aims to leave a legacy of resilience for people, communities, and the environment. As part of the National Portfolio, you will collaborate with Integrated Delivery Management teams and the wider Project Management community.
Responsibilities
 * Commercial governance of contracts with key consultancies and contractors.
 * Support the Integrated Delivery Management (IDM) and Programme and Contract Management Service.
 * Set up and manage pathfinder programmes to embed best practice and deliver collaborative partnership arrangements.
 * Develop excellent relationships internally and externally, becoming an expert on contractual and commercial interpretation.
 * Contribute to incident response duties as required for safety and environmental protection.
Team
You will be an integral part of the CAFM national team, supporting local delivery hub leadership to achieve sustainable outcomes across programmes.
Experience / Skills Required
 * A‑Level qualifications, Level 3 qualifications, or equivalent.
 * Skilled communicator with strong interpersonal and influencing skills.
 * Experience in stakeholder management.
 * Strong data and document management skills.
 * Commercial acumen: ability to analyse business situations, manage risks, and deliver value.
 * Administrative skills, including minute taking and report drafting.
 * Willingness to undertake long‑term professional qualifications such as NEC training or CIPS.
 * Interest in infrastructure, construction or environmental programmes.
Desired Education / Professional Requirements
 * Degree or equivalent professional qualification or experience.
 * Working toward membership with a recognised professional body (e.g. ICE, CIWEM, APM, CIPS, RICS).
 * Formal training in contract management (e.g. NEC, Contract Management Capability Programme).
