We’re working with a warm, welcoming SEN primary school in Sunderland who are looking for a BSL Teaching Assistant to join them this September. This is a setting where every small breakthrough is celebrated, and your role will be right at the heart of it.
You’ll be supporting pupils with hearing impairments and additional needs, helping them access learning in a way that works for them.
What your day will look like:
* Supporting pupils using British Sign Language in lessons
* Helping break down learning into manageable, meaningful steps
* Working closely with teachers, therapists, and SENCO
* Building strong, trusting relationships with pupils
* Creating a calm, structured environment where children feel safe
Most days wrap up between 3:30 and 4:30, giving you that all-important balance.
What the school is looking for:
* BSL Level 2 or above
* Experience working with SEND or a strong interest in the area
* A calm, patient, and encouraging approach

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
