The role of Director of Capital Projects & Sustainability key stand outs would be: To lead an extensive programme within the capital and sustainability teams to achieve the council’s objectives and support organisation-wide culture change Lead on the development of major capital building projects, including schools capital, council buildings including heritage assets, heat network programme, managing a team of multi-disciplinary specialists Develop and implement policies and action plans aligned with local, regional, and national climate goals and engage with internal and external stakeholders Drive the transition to a low-carbon, climate-resilient council and city, ensuring the effective delivery of our energy and sustainability programmes Represent the council’s interests in negotiations with stakeholders, investors, and government on net zero and climate-associated initiatives We are looking for a candidate with: Substantial senior management experience in a major, complex organisation relevant to supervising high-profile local authority projects and programmes Extensive knowledge of capital project delivery, budget management energy management, sustainability, and carbon reduction Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate teams and influence both internally and externally A demonstrable track record of driving tangible change and improvement This is a hybrid role based at the Cunard Building in Liverpool 2/3 days a week, dependant on business needs.
