Town Planner – Edinburgh
Location: Edinburgh (with hybrid/flexible working)
Salary: Competitive, depending on experience
We’re working with a respected planning consultancy that’s looking to add a Town Planner to its growing Edinburgh team. This is an excellent opportunity to join a practice with a diverse and expanding portfolio of work across Scotland and England, offering exposure to a wide variety of projects and clients.
About the Role
You’ll be involved in a stimulating mix of commercial planning applications—including retail, leisure, EV infrastructure, and industrial developments—as well as an increasing volume of energy projects, particularly solar farms.
The practice is well-established in Scotland but continues to expand south of the border, with plans to open a North of England office in the near future. As the team grows, there may be opportunities to take a lead role in shaping and supporting this expansion.
About You
We’re looking for a Town Planner with a few years of post-graduate experience—someone confident enough to take ownership of projects with limited day-to-day supervision, but still eager to grow and develop within a supportive team.
A particular interest in retail planning or strong Excel and data analysis skills would be especially valuable to support ongoing retail assessment work—but these are not essential.
Key Skills & Experience
1. RTPI-accredited degree or equivalent planning qualification
2. A few years’ experience in planning consultancy or local authority (ideally commercial/energy sectors)
3. Strong report writing and communication skills
4. Ability to manage projects and deadlines independently
5. (Desirable) Interest or experience in retail planning and data analysis
Why Apply?
6. Join a collaborative, ambitious, and growing team
7. Work across an exciting mix of sectors and regions
8. Flexible working arrangements
9. Real scope for career progression as the company expands
If you’re looking for a new challenge where you can make an impact, contribute to major developments across the UK, and be part of a forward-thinking team—we’d love to hear from you.
