Team/Role Overview
Client Solutions fits into the Services Legal team. Services Business is made up of Cash Management, Trade and Custody. Our team sits within Services but supports all three areas by managing transactional work across the three Product lines. We aim to identify and address inconsistencies and inefficiencies existing between the approaches of each of the three Product lines. We do this alongside our primary aim of negotiating transactional documentation with our clients to onboard and expand their relationship with Citi.
What you'll do
1. Contract negotiation - including liaising with client legal team, legal drafting
2. Be responsible for providing legal counsel to the Services Business (Cash Management, Trade & Custody), participating in strategic initiatives, providing subject matter expertise and interpretations of relevant laws, rules, regulations, and industry practices, and advising business management on legal matters impacting the business
3. Partner with legal peers to objectively evaluate business proposals by analyzing documentation while applying institutional knowledge and risk appetite against industry standards, widely accepted business practices, laws, rules, and regulatory guidelines, escalating as appropriate
4. Collaborate across internal lines of business, control/support functions and/or external counsel to achieve coordinated and efficient oues on matters ofmon interest; coordinate closely with the Legal team on a regional and global basis
5. Participate in business planning and development initiatives; contributes to business objectives by providing thought leadership using knowledge of industry, laws, and regulations
6. Assist team in identifying, evaluating and contributing to the management of legal, regulatory, and reputational risk by collaborating with ICRM & Risk, following relevant legal developments, participating in internal projects, escalating as appropriate
7. Manage day-to-day legal activities as a subject matter expert in area of responsibility and provide advisory services to business partners
8. Monitor management ofplex legal issues and transactions, escalating when necessary
What we'll need from you
9. Qualified Solicitor, Barrister, or equivalent / Juris Doctorate or equivalent law degree
10. Ideally have banking or financial industry experience, including laws related to banking regulations
11. Knowledge of international laws, regulations and practices while staying abreast of regulatory and legal environment, internal policies and industry trends that impact the business
12. Effectivemunication and negotiation skills and ability to build and maintain trusted relationships
13. Excellent interpersonal, organizational and relationship management skills
14. Proven ability to apply sound judgement while managing assignments in a demanding, fast-paced environment
15. A drive to develop and learn, willingness to seek help and escalate when needed
