We’re looking for a Principal Hydrogeologist within our Water Catchment Management & Maritime capability.
Responsibilities
* Work in collaborative multidisciplinary teams including hydro‑morphologists, aquatic ecologists, environmental economists, and other hydrogeologists. Responsibilities include:
* Providing specialist hydrogeological support to water resources and low flow studies, aligned to WINEP, including delivery of WFD, No Deterioration and Environmental Destination type projects.
* Support review of hydrogeological datasets, identify groundwater‑surface water interaction, formulate conceptual site models, design and implement groundwater monitoring schemes, groundwater model interrogation, signal test design and analysis, and assess the impact of abstraction and options for meeting WINEP objectives.
* Originate technically complex works, review and sign off pieces of work.
* Deliver training and share technical knowledge, supporting professional development of colleagues.
* Support business development, identifying new clients, emerging opportunities and complex large bids.
Requirements
* A good Honours/Master’s degree in earth sciences or equivalent.
* Chartered or working towards Chartered status.
* Demonstrable track record in technical delivery of hydrogeology projects, including water resources and low flow studies aligned to WINEP.
* Experience in groundwater site characterisation, groundwater‑surface water interaction, generation of conceptual site models, and quantitative groundwater and abstraction impact assessments.
* Hydrogeological testing – design and specification of signal testing and pumping tests.
* Progressive experience of long‑term groundwater monitoring – design and specification of installation of groundwater monitoring instrumentation.
* Able to interpret in situ testing, monitoring data, field and laboratory testing.
* Comfortable using/supervising/interrogating numerical modelling (such as MODFLOW, FEFLOW or similar).
* Team player willing to work away from base office, high personal responsibility, adaptable and flexible approach to different project requirements.
