Job Description

Are you working long hours, evenings, and weekends in hospitality, and ready for a change?

At NSF, we're offering a unique opportunity to transition your hospitality experience into a rewarding auditor role with structured hours and great benefits.

This vacancy is specifically for Scotland.

What NSF can offer you

* Flexible Working: While travel to and from audits means it's not strictly 9 - 5, you'll enjoy a more predictable schedule than typical hospitality roles.
* Localised Work, Less Travel: We keep your area local so you're not spending hours on the road. That means more time at home and less time commuting.
* Minimal Overnight Stays: Overnight stays are rare and only ever required if you choose to take them on.
* Make a Visible Impact: You'll visit restaurants, bars, and grocery stores, many you may already know as a customer, and help them meet high standards in food safety and compliance.

How Independent Contracting Works

* You operate on a self‑employed basis, completing assessments on behalf of NSF.
* You are paid per audit, with travel expenses covered, where applicable.
* You share your availability, and visits are scheduled based on your location, experience, and scheme coverage.
* Work is offered on an ad hoc basis and can vary throughout the year depending on programme needs.
* It offers autonomy, flexibility, and the chance to shape your own workload.

Responsibilities

* Do food safety checks at client sites.
* Train and coach staff while on‑site - we're compliance‑seekers not fault‑finders.
* Write up inspection results and share with client managers.
* Collect samples and send them to labs for testing.
* Plan your inspections to meet deadlines.
* Keep in touch with your team and client contacts.
* Jump in on other tasks when needed.

Qualifications

* Level 4 qualifications in Food Safety and Health & Safety.
* A degree in Environmental Health (or similar), a big plus.
* Able to carry out audits in Food, Health & Safety, and Fire.
* Can train safety advisors if needed.
* Being registered with CIEH or IOSH, a big plus.
* Excellent communication skills.
* Must have a full UK driving license.
* Ready and willing to travel.
* Confident using Microsoft Office and our easy‑to‑use tools.

Why Join NSF?

* Be part of our mission to Protect and Improve Human and Planet Health.
* Flexible working hours to support your lifestyle.
* Outstanding support from operations and easy‑to‑use tools.
* Work with key industry players and specialists.
* Ready to make the switch?
