Key Responsibilities of the Learning Support Officer As a Learning Support Officer, you will: Provide 1:1 and small group support for learners with additional learning needs Assist in the implementation of Individual Development Plans (IDPs) Work collaboratively with teaching staff to promote positive behaviour and engagement Effectively manage and de-escalate challenging behaviour Adapt to changing circumstances and individual pupil needs Create a calm, nurturing and structured classroom environment Support pupils in developing confidence, resilience and essential life skills Encourage emotional wellbeing and active participation in learning What We’re Looking For in a Learning Support Officer The ideal Learning Support Officer will be patient, adaptable and confident in managing a dynamic classroom environment where no two days are the same. Desirable Skills & Experience: Welsh-speaking Experience supporting children or young people with SEN and/or challenging behaviour Background in sports, coaching or youth work Experience delivering consistent 1:1 or small group mentoring Essential Qualities: Resilient, calm and empathetic approach Strong behaviour management and de-escalation skills Commitment to inclusive education and pupil development Ability to build positive relationships with pupils and staff Transferable skills from relevant professional backgrounds Requirements Teaching Personnel will support you through the compliance process.
