Afternoon School Receptionist
Hours: Monday – Friday, 11:45am – 4:00pm
Contract: Term Time Only
Job Purpose We are seeking a friendly, organised, and reliable Afternoon School Receptionist to join our school office team. The successful candidate will provide a welcoming first point of contact for pupils, parents, staff, and visitors, while supporting the smooth running of the school office during the afternoon period.
Key Responsibilities
Act as the first point of contact at the school reception, welcoming visitors and ensuring safeguarding procedures are followed
Answer telephone calls and manage enquiries in a professional and courteous manner
Support pupil sign-in/sign-out, late arrivals, and early collections
Maintain accurate pupil and visitor records using the school’s management information system
Support administrative tasks such as filing, emails, data entry, and photocopying
Liaise with teaching staff, senior leaders, and parents as required
Assist with first aid and welfare matters (training can be provided if required)
Uphold confidentiality at all times and adhere to school policies and proceduresEssential Skills & Experience
Previous experience working in a school office or similar educational setting
Experience using school management systems, ideally Arbor or SIMS
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Strong organisational skills and attention to detail
Ability to work calmly and efficiently in a busy environment
Confident IT skills, including Microsoft OfficeDesirable
First aid qualification (or willingness to undertake training)
