About the Opportunity
Amentum is recruiting an experienced HSE Engineer to join our Nuclear Power Engineering and Technical Services team supporting our key client EDF Energy Nuclear Generation with their nuclear fleet in the UK. This key role provides positive leadership on HSE matters within the Site Project Delivery Teams and promotes an enthusiastic HSE culture that delivers continuous improvement in HSE performance and engages all employees.
The role will be based at Sizewell B Powerstation and involves monitoring and reporting on the effectiveness of the HSE Management system and progress against HSE Performance Standards, recommending improvements as appropriate. Key responsibilities include:
* Act as a focal point to support the local Site Management Team to ensure compliance with EDF processes
* Development, ownership and implementation of Projects HSE procedures and other appropriate EDF arrangements and provide advice and guidance on all HSE matters
* Ensuring statutory and legislative HSE requirements are implemented in the respective Site Team and reporting any non‑compliances to the Construction Manager/Group Head
* Ensuring compliance with Construction (Design and Management) Regulations by assisting in the development of pre‑construction information and construction phase health and safety plans, and auditing compliance
* Assisting in the management process of contractors, including selection, review of contractor method statements, risk assessments, and monitoring when they commence work on site
* Developing project‑specific inductions and presenting the material as required
* Completing a monthly report on HSE performance, identifying good practices and highlighting adverse or deteriorating trends to the Construction Manager/Group Head and sharing with the EPC Group
* Ensuring all accidents are entered into the CAP process and assisting with recording, reporting, investigation and production of any relevant OPEX material
* Monitoring and coaching all project resources to ensure consistent use of the EDF Energy HU Tools across all projects
* Providing support for nominated company representatives in dealings with regulatory agencies and interfacing as required
* Conducting HSE walks, recording findings and reporting to the Construction Manager/Group Head
* Co‑ordinating with Station ISE and Environmental Safety Engineers to share best practice and implement HSE initiatives undertaken by the station
* Promoting sustainability including the importance of managing environmental hazards
Qualifications
* HNC in a relevant technical discipline or equivalent
* Current qualification/knowledge of the CDM Regulations; Minimum NEBOSH General Certificate
* Construction Certificate or NVQ Level 3 / National Diploma
* Member of the Institution of Occupational Safety and Health (IOSH)
