As a Catering Assistant, you’ll be at the heart of our catering operations, responsible for the preparation and serving of food, beverages, and alcoholic drinks, while ensuring the highest standards of cleanliness, safety, and customer service. Your role will also include stock management, ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations, and creating a welcoming environment for guests.
Key Responsibilities:
* Assist in the preparation and serving of food, drinks, and alcoholic beverages.
* Ensure that all food is maintained at the correct temperatures and adhere to food safety and hygiene standards.
* Maintain a clean and tidy working environment, from setting up to clearing away.
* Carry out regular cleaning and maintenance of equipment and public areas.
* Support with the setup and layout of event spaces, including furniture arrangement.
* Assist with stock rotation, stock checks, and report any shortages to the Catering Supervisor.
* Handle cash transactions following recognized procedures.
* Ensure that all relevant Health and Safety and hygiene legislation is always adhered to.
* Act as Fire Marshal in the event of an emergency evacuation.
* Maximise sales opportunities by effectively selling food, drinks, and other services.
* Be flexible and cover shifts as required, especially in the absence of colleagues.
About You:
* We are looking for someone who:
* Has a strong understanding of health and safety and licensing issues in a catering environment.
* Is enthusiastic, self-motivated, and able to work both independently and as part of a team.
* Demonstrates excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a positive attitude towards customer service.
* Can multitask, work well under pressure, and maintain high attention to detail.
* Has experience in food and beverage preparation, customer service, and cash handling (preferred but not essential).
* Is available to work flexible daytime, evening, and weekend shifts.
It would be great if you also have:
* A Level 2 Food Hygiene Certificate.
* Experience working in a catering environment or similar.
* A Personal Licence or First Aid Certificate.
