Retail Direct Trading Director

Join AXA Retail as our Direct Trading Director! We’re looking for a commercially savvy leader to drive growth, profitability, and exceptional customer experience across AXA, Swiftcover and Moja.
What you’ll be doing
* Develop and execute the Retail Direct strategy aligned with AXA Retail and AXA Insurance plans to achieve growth and transformational customer improvements.
* Oversee the multi-year P&L (top-line and bottom-line) and manage trading performance, pricing and portfolio optimisation.
* Enhance customer experience through marketing and PPC campaigns to maximise quotes, conversion rates and brand trust.
* Set risk selection appetite, underwriting acceptance criteria, and deploy counter-fraud rules across all products.
* Ensure compliant product design, clear wording and regulatory standards.
* Manage relationships with price-comparison websites and distribution partners, maintaining FCA compliance.
* Lead and inspire teams, fostering a commercial, customer-focused culture with continuous improvement.
* Strengthen governance, controls and risk management practices in line with regulatory requirements.
What you’ll bring
* Degree level or equivalent education.
* Equivalent professional qualification (e.g., ACII).
* Senior management experience within the UK insurance industry, reporting to executive level.
* Track record of leading teams to deliver outcomes and driving change.
* Established market relationships at director or MD level.
* Strong commercial acumen and deep knowledge of the UK insurance market.
* Excellent communication and stakeholder influence skills.
* Strategic thinking with organisational awareness and big-picture insight.
