A vacancy has arisen for a Mechanical Fitter to join our team within our Severn Trent Engineering contract in Derbyshire / Mansfield / Nottingham areas.
The Mechanical Fitter role involves working independently or as part of a team, including electrical craftsmen, to provide service support through planned and reactive maintenance, as well as new plant installations and upgrades on framework contracts as directed by the framework manager. The role requires mechanical qualifications and wider skills, contributing to the broader engineering team when needed.
Key duties include:
1. Complying with HIS/STW SHEQ procedures
2. Carrying out PPM and RCM as per site schedules
3. Performing defect repairs on Mechanical equipment within the scope of HIS Service delivery
4. Applying and removing mechanical isolations following PTW systems
5. Fault finding and diagnosing plant breakdowns
6. Identifying opportunities for process improvements
7. Installing and commissioning new equipment according to drawings
8. Operating workshop equipment and tools
9. Completing documentation, reports, and records accurately
10. Providing professional support to clients and the engineering team
11. Promoting safety and continuous improvement initiatives
12. Ensuring work is completed to a high standard and on time
13. Communicating effectively with clients and managers
Ideal candidate attributes:
1. Completed an apprenticeship or equivalent with at least 2 years' experience on mechanical plant and installations
2. Knowledge of relevant regulations and engineering best practices
3. Experience in fault diagnostics and repairs
4. Confined space level 3 certification
5. Strong communication skills and team orientation
6. Ability to complete site inductions and safety training
7. Rigging, slinging, and FLT qualifications (preferred)
8. UK Driving Licence including C1 category
9. Positive safety attitude and adaptability
10. Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
