Senior Security Engineer – Belfast (Hybrid)
Our client is growing a modern, high-impact Security Architecture & Engineering function, and they’re looking for a Senior Security Engineer who wants to shape the future of security engineering, not just maintain it.
This is a rare opportunity to join a small but expanding team (growing from 3 → 5 this year), where your work truly moves the needle. If you're excited by engineering-led security, automation, and building best-in-class capabilities from the ground up, this is the role to explore.
Day-to-day:
In this engineering-focused role (approx. 60–70% engineering / 30–40% operational):
* Build, optimise, and enhance the firm’s security tooling and infrastructure
* Own and tune SIEM/SOAR platforms, ingestion pipelines, and detection logic
* Partner closely with IT, MSSPs, and Cyber Ops to deliver consistent, global controls
* Drive automation across the security stack (SOAR experience = standout)
* Support incident investigations and remediation activities
* Work on vulnerability remediation and continuous security hardening
* Contribute to the long-term security engineering roadmap and evolving architecture
Experience:
You don’t need experience with every tool, just the right mindset and foundations.
You should have:
* Background in security engineering or a technical cyber role
* Experience in 2–3 areas of the security stack (SIEM, SOAR, cloud, detection rules, firewalls/IDS/IPS, Linux/Windows, Ansible, AWS/Azure)
* Understanding of SIEM concepts, pipelines, and detection logic
* Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
* Clear communication and a desire to continuously learn and grow
Nice to have: CISSP, CEH, CISM, Security+, Python or PowerShell.
Career Growth & Development:
This team is intentionally designed for growth, cross-skilling, and progression:
* Over the next 12–18 months, all engineers will cross-train across the full tooling stack
* Longer-term plan for upgraded titles and fully multifunctional engineering roles
* Future potential to step into Security Architecture roles for those who want that path
This is the perfect environment for someone who wants to broaden their skills quickly and help shape how modern security engineering should operate.
Perks:
* Strong benefits package: pension, private medical, wellbeing resources, enhanced leave, and more
* Hybrid working (2 days officed - Belfast)
* Supportive, inclusive hiring process with adjustments available
* A chance to join a team with genuine visibility and influence
