About The Job
You will provide a customer‑focused service through effective management of the strategic road network as part of a team by dealing with incidents such as road traffic collisions, removal of debris and other unplanned events.
Our Traffic Officers operate 24/7, 365 days a year, working 6 days on, 3 days off. Shift pattern: 3 early (6:00 am–2:26 pm), 3 late (2 pm–10:26 pm), 3 rest, 3 cover (any shift), 3 night (10 pm–6:26 am), 3 rest.
Starting salary up to £35,062.50 (base plus 25% shift allowance). After 9 months probation, salary increases to up to £36,512.50 (base plus 25% shift allowance).
Responsibilities
* Respond and resolve incidents on the strategic road network using safe and timely action, deploying traffic management and working collaboratively with colleagues, emergency services and other responders.
* Work within a team to contribute proactively and achieve required performance targets.
* Communicate using radio and mobile telephony to provide accurate and timely scene updates to colleagues, partners, stakeholders and customers.
* Actively maintain your own safety and that of others by reporting and acting on any potentially unsafe activities or conditions.
* Maintain records of vehicles and equipment.

Required Qualifications
* Full driving licence with no more than 3 points, required for driving as part of the role.
* Live within one hour's commuter distance of the vacancy location.
* Experience of motorway driving.
* Knowledge of and experience in contributing to safety in the workplace.
* Deliver a high quality customer service.
* Self‑motivated, team player.
* Experience of successfully working unsupervised.
