The role: Pastoral Manager position Based in Sutton Coldfield Full time September start Long-term opportunity Potential permanent role Secondary school setting The school are looking for someone who can support students with behaviour, attendance, wellbeing and personal development. You will be a key point of contact for pupils who need extra support during the school day, helping them stay focused, make positive choices and overcome barriers to learning. What you'll be doing: Supporting students with behaviour and emotional wellbeing Helping pupils improve attendance, punctuality and engagement Responding to incidents calmly and professionally Building positive relationships with students Working with pupils who may be struggling socially or emotionally Supporting vulnerable students and those needing extra guidance Liaising with parents, carers and school staff Recording concerns and following safeguarding procedures Working with external agencies where needed Promoting a safe, positive and inclusive school environment What the school are looking for: Experience working with young people Background in pastoral support, behaviour support, mentoring, youth work or similar Confident managing challenging behaviour Calm, firm and fair approach Strong communication and relationship-building skills Good organisation and record keeping Resilient, proactive and professional attitude Ability to work well with staff, families and external professionals Good understanding of safeguarding and student welfare Passion for helping young people make positive progress This role would suit a Pastoral Manager, Behaviour Mentor, Learning Mentor, Student Support Officer, Head of Year Assistant or someone with strong experience supporting young people in a school or youth setting.
