Overview
This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Senior Occupational Therapist to join the Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service (CAMHS) at EPUT. The post is based at St Aubyn's Centre in Colchester (Longview and Larkwood wards) and Rochford Hospital (Poplar Ward), Rochford, near Southend on Sea, supporting the delivery of Occupational Therapy assessments and interventions, and supervising band 5 Occupational Therapists, Apprentices, and Activity Coordinators.
We provide an integrated service with in-depth, holistic assessments of the psychological, social and physical needs of each referred young person. An assessment is undertaken for all young people before a decision is made about further in-patient treatment or discharge to appropriate care providers.
We place a strong emphasis on a multi-disciplinary team approach and care plans and views agreed daily with input from all team members including ward Doctors, Consultant Psychiatrist, Nurses, Support Workers, Psychologists, Family Therapist, and Teachers/Education.
Responsibilities
* Undertake occupational therapy assessments for all young people under care of Longview, Larkwood and Poplar wards, addressing occupational performance and skill deficits to support self-maintenance, productivity and leisure.
* Utilise specialist assessments for complex cases.
* Make decisions on the level of treatment intervention required.
* Undertake treatment planning, and communicate and negotiate treatment plans and clinical reasoning with patients and their carers.
* Communicate agreed treatment/care plans to multi-disciplinary team colleagues and partnership agencies; liaise at formal and informal meetings.
* Undertake manual handling assessments and ensure related needs are understood by other professionals and carers.
* Collaborate with others to modify environmental aspects to empower patients and facilitate optimal functional performance.

Role Summary
The successful applicant will contribute to the comprehensive assessment and treatment of service users in CAMHS. You will provide effective, tailored, evidence-based occupational therapy to service users aged 13-18, focusing on goal setting and interventions to re-engage in self-care, productivity and leisure activities, promoting health, wellbeing and independence.
You will identify and use relevant occupational therapy standardised assessments and outcomes, exchange complex sensitive information with service users, and assess their response to activities in line with agreed models of practice. You will also provide occupational therapy advice to other disciplines.
