Locum Consultant in Anasthesia WSI in Intensive Care Medicine
Sandwell & West Birmingham NHS Trust invites applications for a 6‑month fixed‑term post of Locum Consultant in Anasthesia WSI in Intensive Care Medicine based primarily at the new Midland Metropolitan University Hospital (MMUH). This role supports the expansion of our critical care and anaesthetic services and may include responsibilities at other sites as required.
Key responsibilities include:
* Providing clinical care in intensive care and anaesthesia on a 50:50 split throughout the day.
* Working the dedicated consultant roster covering day and night shifts, with an on‑call rota aiming for a 1 in 16 frequency.
* Delivering elective and emergency anaesthetic services across a broad range of specialties.
* Supporting the Enhanced Post‑operative Care Unit adjacent to the ICU.
* Contributing to training, education and leadership within the team.
Essential qualifications and experience:
* Qualified as a consultant in Intensive Care Medicine and Anaesthesia (or equivalent).
* Registered on the GMC Specialist Register or eligible to register within six months of interview date.
* Extensive training and experience in both critical care and anaesthesia.
* Additional clinical or diagnostic skills such as accreditation in ultrasound are desirable.
* Experience within an “Outstanding” CQC‑rated critical care environment is a plus.
