Salary: £58,346 per annum | Full Time | Closing date: 11th January 2026. Location: Rutherford Appleton Laboratory, Harwell, Oxfordshire OX11 0QX.

Key Activities
* Architecting and leading the development of sophisticated solutions for microelectronics design in AWS and Azure clouds that are robust and intuitive for end customers.
* Providing strong technical leadership to junior developers through extensive technical knowledge of complex systems for engineering applications.
* Implementing robust solutions to protect sensitive technology data licensed under strict NDAs, as well as customers’ own intellectual property.
* Using agile decision‑making and modern compute solutions for both on‑premise and in the cloud.
* Managing the development of our cloud‑based solutions to meet current and emerging customer needs.
Essential Requirements And Skills
* A degree (minimum 2:1) and significant directly relevant experience in a field of study such as computer science or software engineering.
* Substantial track record of successfully delivering projects in complex software engineering applications where timely delivery to specification is critical.
* Practical experience working with external customers to find solutions for easy configuration and deployment of suitable compute architectures in commercial clouds (e.g. AWS or Azure) for engineering applications.
* Relevant experience leading full‑stack development of significant websites that store, retrieve and manipulate data; knowledge of SQL and basic database design, including normalised data structures for efficient storage of diverse customer and engineering data.
* Excellent knowledge of Linux computing, including fundamentals, basic configuration and security.
* Clear, comprehensive, credible and coherent communication skills in English and ability to identify and communicate relevant technical information.
* Self‑motivated team player with analytical and logical problem‑solving approach, service‑oriented outlook and proven track record of mentoring junior staff.
* Demonstrated dedication to continuous professional development and keeping up to date with the latest technologies.
