Singh & Jones are working with a well-established systems house client, who have a global appeal and are synonymous in the world of modular build. Having seen tenders grow substantially, as well as technical demand soar, my client is keen to strengthen their commercial team by recruiting an experienced Structural Engineer, with a core focus on SFS/Light Gauge Steel Framing.
The position will report directly to the Technical Director, and the duties will include:
1. Analyze configurations of the basic components of light gauge steel structures
2. Calculate the pressures, stresses, and strains on components such as beams and frames
3. Use expertise to advise on structural designs and variations
4. Liaise with other designers, including architects and main contractors
5. Create drawings, specifications, and computer models using AutoCAD and Tekla
6. Coordinate with construction contractors to ensure structural integrity of erected buildings
7. Apply expert knowledge of forces acting on various structures
8. Lead and mentor junior staff
The ideal candidate will come from a similar background or role. The client requires a self-starter with a minimum of 5 years post-graduate experience. A strong academic background, with a BSc/MSc in Structural or Civil Engineering, is essential, as well as being chartered or progressing towards chartership with ICE or IStructE. Experience in Light Gauge Steel Framing and SFS is highly advantageous. As this is a senior position, mentoring and team-building skills are important.
In return, the client offers a competitive base salary, an above-average bonus scheme, healthcare, 33 days of holidays, and ongoing personal development opportunities to progress towards an Engineering Manager role overseeing a team of engineers.
