About the Role:
We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Job Coach (Learning Support Mentor) to work with young people with Special Educational Needs (SEN), particularly those with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) difficulties and behavioural challenges. This role will involve supporting these young people to develop employability skills and, ultimately, to help them find meaningful employment or further educational opportunities. You will work closely with a diverse team to create a positive, supportive learning environment that empowers each individual to reach their full potential.
Pay: £20.00ph (which includes holiday and sick pay)
Hours : Contract offer - Free lance / Sale Trader. This role is to be a registered contractor with C&G Education. Following an interview, DBS and reference checks, successful candidates will join our pool of Job coaches and will be offered individual student contracts.
* Typical shift 10am - 3pm (5 hours)
* Hours per student contract (10 hour per week, spread between 2 days)
* Maximum of 2 students per week (20 hours)
* Term time only (39 weeks per year)
* Monday - Friday
Key Responsibilities:
* Provide tailored, one-on-one support to young people with SEMH and behavioural difficulties, helping them develop practical employability skills.
* Assist in the development of individualised learning plans that are focused on building confidence, self-awareness, and employability readiness.
* Support young people in their journey towards employment, providing guidance on job searching, interview techniques, CV writing, and workplace etiquette.
* Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment where all students feel safe, valued, and motivated to succeed.
* Work collaboratively with teachers, and other professionals to address the holistic needs of each student.
* Monitor and track progress, completing daily logs and providing feedback to students.
* Encourage social and emotional development by implementing strategies to manage challenging behaviour and promote self-regulation.
* Liaise with employers, community organisations, and other external agencies to create potential work placement opportunities and pathways into employment.
Skills & Experience:
* Experience working with young people with Special Educational Needs (SEN), particularly those with SEMH and behavioural difficulties is beneficial but not essential as we provide training.
* Ability to support individuals in building employability skills, such as communication, time management, teamwork, and problem-solving.
* An understanding of SEN support strategies, and a calm and patient approach to managing challenging behaviours.
* Ability to tailor learning and support strategies to meet the diverse needs of individuals.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage with young people in a supportive and motivating manner.
* Experience in career guidance, job coaching, or a related field is desirable.
* A qualification in Education, Youth Work, Psychology, or a related area is advantageous.
* Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of young people.

* Mileage Reimbursement Rate - Staff members can claim mileage reimbursement at a rate of £0.45p per mile, under the following conditions:Transporting students: All miles travelled with a student in the vehicle are fully reimbursable, with no mileage threshold. And c*_ommuting to student sessions: _Mileage reimbursement applies for any miles travelled beyond _30 miles per day *_when commuting to student sessions. This contributes to 15 miles each way of the commute.

What do our job coaches do day-to-day?
* Support and empower young people one to one in their local community (1 student each day)
* Deliver our Skills for Working Life program, as planned for you by our qualified teachers.
* Help young people prepare for employment by taking them to work experiences and build their confidence whilst there.
* Guide students through a reflective processes after work experience.
* Support them to apply for work, explore their career goals, and take steps to benefit their future.
* Record the student's progress through a daily summary.
The right candidate will be someone who has:
* Enthusiasm for supporting young people who need additional help in reaching their life goals
* People who have real world experiences to share with our students, the more experience the better
* Must have a full UK license and use of a car for work that you are able to put business insurance on.
* It is desirable but not essential to have experience working in the education or care sector
This is a self employed role, the contract details are:
This position is to cover student across East Sussex.
The successful applicant will need to be able to drive to each student's location.
Number of weekly shifts to be agreed. Shifts are 4-5 hours per day, Monday to Friday, during term time only.
Our team are happy to advise on setting up as a sole trader and offer support where possible.
