We are seeking a dedicated Engineer – Combustion to join our team at HMP Wayland, a Category C & male prison. Join a team that works Monday-Sunday as a supportive and driven family, ensuring a safe and nurturing environment. HMP Wayland operates like a self-contained town, requiring hundreds of staff to keep it functioning. As part of the Facilities Maintenance Team, your work will impact prisoners, staff, visitors, families, and the wider community.
As an Engineer – Combustion, you will work alongside experienced colleagues including Plumbers, Electricians, Carpenters, Painters, Cleaners, and Administrators, all dedicated to making a positive difference and providing a secure environment. We are a Ministry of Justice business providing critical services to HMPPS, seeking an Engineer – Combustion with the following qualifications and experience:
1. At least two years of experience as a heating or combustion engineer or equivalent.
2. Familiarity with Water Supply Regulation and Legionella L8 requirements.
3. Knowledge of Gas Safe (installation and use) regulations 1998 and industry standards.
4. Experience with commercial catering gas appliances is beneficial.
5. Plumber qualified to C&G 6035 (Plumbing), C&G 6189 (Plumbing and Heating), and NVQ Level 3 in Plumbing or equivalent.
6. CCN1 - Core domestic gas safety and relevant domestic appliance units.
7. COCN1 - Core commercial gas safety certificate and relevant commercial units.
8. Good health & safety knowledge.
9. Excellent organizational, time management, and people skills.
