Job Overview – Talking Circles Facilitator (Freelance)
Peaceathome CIC is seeking grounded, emotionally aware Talking Circles Facilitators to support our community-led programmes for young Black men aged 18–35 who are navigating reintegration, identity, and personal growth.
Peaceathome CIC was built by people with lived experience of the criminal justice system, mentoring, and successful reintegration. Our work exists to ensure young men are not left to navigate the challenges of returning to society alone. We focus on dignity, stability, and long-term personal and economic growth, working beyond the limits of statutory services to provide consistent, relationship-based support rooted in lived experience.
Talking Circles are a core part of our trauma-informed approach. They provide a safe, structured space for open conversation, reflection, accountability, and healing, rooted in lived experience and cultural understanding.
This is a paid, sessional role (12 weeks) offered on a self-employed (freelance) basis. Facilitators will support participants to feel heard, respected, and supported, while helping to build emotional regulation, trust, and positive peer connection.
Key Responsibilities
* Facilitate Talking Circles in a calm, respectful, and non-judgemental way
* Hold safe space for honest conversation around lived experience, identity, emotions, and personal challenges
* Encourage balanced participation while maintaining clear group boundaries
* Use grounding and reflective techniques to support emotional regulation
* Respond appropriately to sensitive disclosures, following safeguarding procedures
* Work alongside volunteers and co-facilitators to support programme delivery
* Contribute brief session reflections or feedback when required

* Experience facilitating groups, mentoring, or leading community discussions
* Strong listening skills and emotional intelligence
* Confidence holding space for difficult or sensitive conversations
* Understanding of trauma-informed and culturally grounded practice
* Lived experience relevant to the communities we support is welcomed and valued
* A calm, reliable, and respectful facilitation style
* Commitment to community wellbeing and positive change
* Additional Information
* Self-employed / freelance role (paid per session)
* Facilitators are responsible for their own tax and National Insurance
* Safeguarding training required (or willingness to complete)
