Graduate Geotechnical Engineer / Engineering Geologist – Chesterfield (Immediate Start)

Our UK&I Ground Engineering team provides services across all phases of ground engineering, supporting clients such as National Grid, BP, Sellafield and others.
Job Description
As a graduate in geotechnical engineering or engineering geology, you will join projects across energy, water, nuclear, power, transport, commercial and industrial developments.
Responsibilities
* Desk studies, site inspections, rockface surveys and geomorphological mapping
* Contribute to the design, planning and procurement of ground investigations
* Supervision of ground investigation fieldwork
* Geological interpretation and preparation of interpretative reports
* Analysis of geotechnical data, preparation of ground models, design and reporting on foundations, retaining walls, soil slope stability, earthworks, rock slope stabilisation
* Use of digital software including Openground, Leapfrog and other 2D/3D numerical analysis packages
Qualifications
* A degree in Civil Engineering or Engineering Geology / Geology, with a 2:1 classification (or equivalent) or above
* An MSc/MEng in Soil Mechanics, Geotechnical Engineering or Engineering Geology would be an advantage
* Competent in Microsoft Office is essential; AutoCAD/Civil 3D experience desirable
* Geotechnical work experience preferred but not essential
* Willing and able to work toward professional qualifications through ICE, IOM3 or The Geological Society
* Demonstrable interest in geotechnical projects and in promoting geotechnical activities with our clients
* Flexible and willing to work away from home on sites and occasionally in other offices
* Motivated to meet client and business expectations and consider financial and commercial implications
* Effective communicator with colleagues and clients, both verbally and in writing
* Capability to structure and prioritise work through close cooperation with the team
* Ability to work independently without losing initiative and focus
