Overview
Main function and scope of position:

As a Technical Co-ordinator Level 1, you play a critical role in creating feel-good food that brings joy to plates all over the UK. As owners of discrete audits, quality inspections and calibrations within HECK’s Operation, you help drive continuous improvement in all we do. You improve food safety and quality systems, ensuring compliance with all required food safety standards. As a result, our customers receive only the highest-quality products.
Main responsibilities
* Auditing and Compliance Champion: As a Technical Co-ordinator, you are responsible for raising non-conformances against our standards and ensuring appropriate action is taken to address. Food Safety Compliance: We all play a part in driving compliance, but your role is special. You support the Head of Technical in all aspects of food safety (HACCP and BRCGS) technical and compliance matters across end-to-end operations in HECK.
* Food Defence: You support the introduction, implementation, and continuous improvement of Food Defence compliance measures across the site. You coordinate activities to ensure robust protection against intentional contamination.
* Audit Management: We love to be ready, especially when it’s a surprise! You help prepare for internal, second and third-party audit and inspection programs (including food management systems, Good Manufacturing Practices and BRC), ensuring any findings you are responsible for are effectively addressed.
* Relationship Management: We know we are better together. You support the smooth running of external customer, audit and inspection visits on site.
* Internal Audits and testing: Our internal audit and testing schedules are an important part of our food safety management system. In this role you are responsible for conducting internal audits and testing in areas such as hygiene verification, fabrication and micro and chemical testing, ensuring any remedial actions are successfully completed.
* Job Card Management: To ensure good maintenance practices, you regularly review and issue job cards to relevant teams. You also ensure effective management of the fault reporting process.
* Site Signage: You are responsible for ensuring all signage is up to date, fit for purpose and is in keeping with HECK’s branding standards
Quality Champion
Compliance with food safety standards is non-negotiable. In this role, you help ensure technical excellence and continuous improvement in food safety and quality standards and systems across all aspects of HECK’s operation.
* End to end production standards: You really know it all! You help oversee hygiene, housekeeping, product handling and production processing activities. You recommend, embed and continuously improve food safety systems to ensure products and processes meet compliance standards and customer expectations.
* Cleaning instruction cards: In this role, you co-ordinate instruction cards and other hygiene paperwork, making it easy for our teams to know what to do and how to do it.
* Continuous Improvement and Investigations: We can always be better. In this role you are responsible for conducting foreign body and compliance investigations and root cause analysis. You complete full investigations including traceability for out of spec results and customer complaints, creating workable solutions to avoid re-occurrence.
* Machinery verification: To help ensure the smooth running of the factory, you are responsible for conducting regular machine checks. Where issues are identified, you ensure a request is escalated for calibration/repair.
* Raw Material Quality: Our product quality is reliant on the ingredients we use. In this role you are responsible for effectively addressing any issues identified during raw material quality inspections.

We are in this together. As a Technical Co-ordinator you help the production team better understand your world.
* Production Advice: You work hand in hand with the production team, providing technical support and advice on areas such as labelling and how to drive continuous improvement.
* Process training: You help ensure our teams know how to best perform their roles. To do this, you help build and deliver effective food safety, critical control and pre-requisite management training.
* Process documentation: There is nothing so certain as change. In this role, you are responsible for ensuring production staff have easy access to, have seen and understand our most up to date paperwork.
* Continuous Professional Development: We continually hire the best to produce the best. To achieve this, Technical Co-ordinators maintain continuous professional development to stay abreast of food industry technical developments.
* Raising Standards: You ensure compliance with product safety procedures, health & safety, quality policies, food safety requirements and operational procedures. When this doesn’t happen, you ensure people are clear on how to improve.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience
Required
* Significant experience in a technical role within a food manufacturing environment
* Well-developed communication skills including external stakeholder management
* An ability to multi-task and prioritise autonomously in a fast paced, highly regulated environment
* HACCP Level 2
* Food Safety Level 2
* Internal Auditing (BRC two-day course)
* Significant experience with Microsoft Office tools
Preferred
* A working knowledge of gluten free food standards within a manufacturing environment
* Experience carrying out Risk Assessment
* Experience in training design and delivery
