This role supports multi-million-pound, complex capital development programme that are essential to the airport’s long-term growth, safety, and operational resilience. The Senior Construction Managers play a pivotal role in enabling the airport to meet its strategic growth targets, ensuring the timely and compliant delivery of high-value infrastructure and assets that support increased passenger capacity, operational efficiency, and commercial development. Projects are scoped, designed, and executed to meet regulatory obligations, enhance customer experience, and align with the airport operator’s capital investment and sustainability strategy.
The Senior Construction Managers contribute to the full project lifecycle, from initial concept and business case through to delivery and handover, ensuring that each project is efficiently managed and aligns with all required standards. In Partnership with client Project Managers guide projects through RIBA design stages, leading technical reviews, managing key milestones, and ensuring effective integration of stakeholder input. The role also involves balancing both the technical and commercial aspects of the programme, ensuring that each is delivered within budget, on time, and to the highest standards of safety, quality, and compliance.
The programme span a wide technical and functional scope, including utilities infrastructure (HV/LV Electrical, Water, Gas, Aviation Fuel, Drainage and IT), Baggage handling systems, Airfield ground lighting, fire and life safety systems (in compliance with British Standards), and comprehensive fit-out works—covering Terminal, Retail, Departure Lounges and other interior environments.
In this role, you will be responsible for Construction Delivery at our Airport, including HSE, Risk Management, Cost, Schedule & Quality. Working collaboratively with all STN-TP Colleagues and Stakeholders, you will oversee delivery and act as the first point of contact for all client Framework Contractors.
• Duration – 12months
• Nights required – Monday to Friday 18:00 to 03:00hrs
Degree and/or Post-Graduate qualified or equivalent experience
Professional affiliation (eg: SMSTS; RICS; APM; CIOB; RIBA, ICE or similar)
NEC Supervisor Qualification (preferred)
Professional Chartership (e.g.: SMSTS, RICS; APM; CIOB; RIBA, ICE or similar) or working towards.
A minimum of 5 years’ experience of project delivery in complex, operational, safety-regulated environments
Experience in the construction, test and commission and handover phases of infrastructure projects across the full range of project size and complexity.
Excellence in project delivery from explore through concept development and project implementation.
