Epping Forest District Council is offering an exciting opportunity for a Cyber Security Technician Apprentice to join our ICT Security & Infrastructure team.
This is your chance to build a career in Cyber Security while helping safeguard the systems that keep our community running, from housing, recycling services and local governance.
This apprenticeship is a fixed term position for 24 months and is subject to a Basic DBS check.
What You'll Be Doing:
* Monitoring council networks and systems for potential threats
* Assisting in the investigation and resolution of cyber incidents
* Supporting the implementation of security protocols across departments
* Learning to manage firewalls, antivirus software, and access controls
* Helping to promote cyber awareness among council staff
What You'll Learn:
* Cyber security principles and threat detection
* Risk management and data protection regulations (including GDPR)
* Hands-on experience with public sector ICT infrastructure
* Industry-recognised qualifications and certifications
* How cyber security supports democratic and community services
What We're Looking For:
* A genuine interest in technology and public service
* Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
* Good communication and teamwork abilities
* GCSEs in Mathematics and English
* Desirable GCSEs or other relevant qualification
* Strong foundation in ICT and a genuine passion for technology
* Previous ICT experience is an advantage, along with a curious mind and a commitment attitude
* Ability to work independently and as a part of a team
