Lead PDP Academy Physiotherapist, providing medical provision for academy players, including clinical assessment, diagnosis, treatment, and rehabilitation of injured players for both training and match days. This role is providing care for U18s players, whilst also supporting the U9-16s care when needed by the Full Time U9-16s Sports Therapist. There is also the opportunity to work closely with the First Team and learn from First Team Physiotherapists/ Sports Scientists.
•To lead the medical care of the Barnsley FC U18s in line with the Club’s strategic objectives and the EPPP
•Manage and oversee the treatment and rehabilitation of injured U18 Academy players
•Support cover for U9-16s age groups if requested
•Engage in and deliver regular in-service training for part-time physiotherapists
•Maintain medical notes in conjunction with CSP/HCPC standards
•Regulation and management of PMA/ Catapult during rehabilitation
•Participate and contribute to all Academy Team Meetings
•To undertake regular independent CPD
•To provide support for the Head of Academy, Sport Science and Medicine when required for training/match days
•Pitch side emergency first aid for U18s games/training
•Daily management of the U18 injured players
•Provide high quality evidence based assessment, treatment and rehabilitation for all injured players using a range of equipment and facilities (gym and pitch based)
•Monitor and manage injured players training loads in conjunction with sport science
•Complete appropriate objective measures before passing player fit to train/referring on to sport science.
•Liaise with the appropriate coaches and sport science with regards to the U9-18s squads daily
•Liaise with the club Doctor about matters regarding ill/injured players and ensure approval is gained prior to arranging further investigations.
•Liaise with the medical services at national level regarding on-going assessment, treatment and medical status of our player
•Maintain an injury audit and present monthly findings to Head Academy Physiotherapist/ Academy Manager/ and coaches
•Provide an annual medical screen to all players and create injury prevention plans based on these findings
•Provide appropriate injury prevention exercises to those with previous injuries or medical screening issues
•Ensure all medical equipment is in working order/in-date
•Provide an holistic approach to the management of injuries, referring to sport psychology/variety of MDT where appropriate
•To support the arrangement of cardiac screenings on an annual basis for U21/19s players, first year scholars and U15s players
•Arrange, perform, and assist with medicals in conjunction with the needs of the U18s/21s
•Liaise with consultants, arrange scans/appointments and escort players to appointments where necessary
•Support the Head Academy Physiotherapist in the financial management of the academy physiotherapy department when ordering medical supplies, arranging scans and appointments.

Qualifications
Essential:
•BSc or MSc pre-registration in Physiotherapy
•Must have full and in-date registration with the Chartered Physiotherapist (CSP) and Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC)
•In date First Aid in Sport qualification
•Experience of working with young athletes
•FA safeguarding qualification
•Full UK driving license.
Desirable:
• FA Advanced/Intermediate Trauma Medical Management in Football qualification (or desire to obtain)
• Experience of working with young athletes
• Competent in the use of IT software such as Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
• Experience of working within professional football/previous academy physiotherapist
• Knowledge of EPPP
• Competent in the use of PMA/ Catapult systems
