Class Teacher (Maternity Cover) – SEMH Special School
Fixed Term Contract: Start Term 6 2026 – End of Term 6 2027
We are seeking a passionate, resilient and creative Class Teacher to join our dedicated team on a fixed-term maternity cover contract. This is an exciting opportunity to work in a nurturing and supportive SEMH (Social, Emotional and Mental Health) special school environment where building strong relationships and engaging learners lies at the heart of everything we do.
About the Role
As a Class Teacher within our SEMH provision, you will:
1. Lead learning in a class of eight Y5/6 pupils.
2. Plan and deliver high-quality, personalised learning that meets the diverse needs of pupils.
3. Create a safe, consistent and supportive classroom environment.
4. Work closely with our skilled multidisciplinary team, including support staff, therapists and behaviour specialists.
5. Build trusting relationships with pupils, enabling them to develop confidence, resilience and positive learning behaviours.
6. Use creative, practical and therapeutic approaches to engage learners.
7. Work in partnership with families and external agencies.
About You
We are looking for someone who:
8. Is a qualified teacher (ECTs with suitable experience considered).
9. Has a genuine passion for working with children and young people with SEMH needs.
10. Brings creativity, flexibility and a trauma-informed approach to teaching.
11. Has excellent behaviour management strategies, underpinned by empathy and consistency.
12. Is committed to inclusion and improving outcomes for vulnerable learners.
13. Works well as part of a supportive and collaborative team.
