Stantec are seeking an experienced Senior / Principal Transport Planner and Business Case Specialist to join our highly engaged Transport Planning team in either our Leeds or Manchester office, as we continue to grow our presence across the North of England to support our expanding portfolio of local authority and combined authority clients.
This is an exciting opportunity to join an established and reputable business, leading and supporting a diverse range of transport planning projects across the region and nationwide, primarily within the public sector. Working collaboratively across multidisciplinary teams, you will deliver high-quality solutions for a broad client base while helping to grow and strengthen our transport planning offering.
YOUR IMPACT
As a Senior / Principal Transport Planner, you will support and lead the development and delivery of a range of high-profile transport projects, including major scheme appraisals, business cases, local and regional strategies, and monitoring & evaluation studies.
You will work directly with clients and stakeholders at all levels, ensuring all deliverables meet both client and company standards and expectations.
You will also:
1. Support business development activities within transport planning
2. Work collaboratively across multidisciplinary project teams
3. Develop robust evidence bases to support transport investment decisions
4. Provide technical guidance, mentoring and support to junior team members
5. Contribute to the delivery of innovative and sustainable transport solutions across the UK
ABOUT YOU
You will be highly numerate with excellent report writing and communication skills, alongside the ability to advise and engage effectively with both internal and external stakeholders.
You will have:
6. Experience leading and supporting transport appraisal and business case projects
7. Experience developing evidence bases to support transport investment decisions
8. Knowledge across a range of transport modes, including active travel and public transport
9. A broad understanding of current transportation trends and challenges
10. Experience working collaboratively across multidisciplinary teams
11. The ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a wider project team
Ideally, you will also:
12. Have experience managing or mentoring junior staff
13. Be chartered or working towards chartership with a relevant professional body (ICE, CIHT, TPS, CILT etc.)
Your passion for developing transport solutions and delivering a first-class service to clients will be critical to your success in this role.
