Overview
We are looking for an experienced and proactive Practice Nurse to join our forward-thinking primary care team. The successful candidate will be an essential part of the practice, providing safe, high-quality, and compassionate nursing care to our patient population. This role requires proven experience in general practice nursing and strong clinical skills in cervical cytology and childhood immunisations.
You will work collaboratively with our GPs, senior nurses, and wider healthcare team to deliver patient-centred care and contribute to the continuous development of our services.
Key Responsibilities
* Perform cervical cytology (smear tests) in line with current national guidelines.
* Administer childhood and adult immunisations, including travel vaccines.
* Provide evidence-based wound care, dressings, and suture/clip removal.
* Support patients in making positive lifestyle choices through health education and promotion.
* Undertake chronic disease management clinics (e.g. asthma, COPD, diabetes, hypertension).
* Undertake clinical procedures such as venepuncture, ECGs, and blood pressure monitoring.
* Manage the collection and processing of pathology samples.
* Work closely with GPs and other clinicians to ensure safe prescribing and monitoring of treatments.
* Act as a resource and mentor for junior nurses, HCAs, and students where appropriate.
* Maintain accurate, timely documentation using practice clinical systems.
Essential Qualifications & Experience
* Registered Nurse (valid NMC number required)
* Proven experience working as a Practice Nurse in a primary care setting.
* Current training and competence in: Cervical cytology and Childhood immunisations
* Evidence of ongoing professional development.
* Confident in working independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
Desirable Skills & Knowledge
* Experience with wound management and dressings.
* Competence in phlebotomy and ECGs.
* Familiarity with EMIS or similar clinical IT systems.
* Knowledge of QOF and enhanced services.
* Infection prevention and control experience.
* Teaching or mentoring experience.

Salary & Working Hours
* Salary: Dependent on experience.
* Hours: Part-time and full-time positions available. Flexible working patterns will be considered.
