Arable Operator / General Farm Worker - Peterborough - £32,000 – £37,000 + Accommodation
The Job:
We are seeking a motivated individual with a keen attitude to join a busy and progressive arable team. The successful candidate will play a key role in cultivations, drilling, and general farm operations, working with modern machinery and precision farming systems.
Key Responsibilities:
- Carry out cultivations and crop drilling using modern machinery including a Fendt 942
- Maintain and service cultivation and drilling equipment, including GPS and variable rate systems
- Monitor machinery performance and advise on servicing requirements
- Manage parts and ensure equipment is prepared for seasonal use and winter servicing
- Plan and deliver cultivation and drilling programmes in line with seasonal requirements
- Maintain accurate field records using farm software systems
- Operate fertiliser applications using GPS and variable rate technology (Fendt 728 and Amazone 36m spreader)
- Support grain store operations including loading, monitoring, and cleaning
- Assist with general farm duties such as muck spreading, grain carting, topping, and hedge cutting
- Contribute to wider farm operations and machinery replacement discussions
- Be willing to support other areas of the diversified farm business when required
The Company:
A progressive, family-run farming business operating approximately 3,800 acres of arable land alongside diversified rural enterprises. The farm grows wheat, barley, oilseed rape, and peas, and also manages land within environmental stewardship and SFI schemes. The business is heavily invested in precision agriculture, operating GPS-equipped machinery, RTK guidance, and a Controlled Traffic Farming (CTF) system with 12m and 36m working widths. Variable rate technology is used across both seed and fertiliser applications.
The Candidate:
- Positive attitude with a strong willingness to learn and take responsibility
- Experience in arable farming operations, particularly cultivations and drilling
- Ability to work independently and make practical decisions based on soil and weather conditions
- Familiarity with modern machinery and precision farming systems (GPS / RTK / variable rate)
- Forklift and telehandler certificates or experience preferred
- Strong attention to detail and good record keeping
- Flexible, reliable, and a strong team player
The Package:
- Competitive salary £32,000 – £37,000 DOE
