This is an exciting opportunity to be part of The Mungo Foundation, where we positively impact the lives of those we support at Kelvin Project in Kirkintilloch.

Kelvin provides 24-hour support and accommodation to young unaccompanied asylum seekers aged 16 years to 25 years. The service has 16 en-suite rooms with 2 communal kitchens and 1 communal lounge space.

The service has been developed by East Dunbartonshire Council in order to meet the needs of children and young people who arrive in the UK without parents or guardians and come to East Dunbartonshire through the National Transfer Scheme.

Many of the young people who come to Kelvin will have experienced significant trauma and it is important that the Service will provide a welcoming, healthy, secure, warm, safe and supportive environment which empowers young people to know their rights and understand how to exercise them.

We are looking for someone who will support the Registered Service Manager, to implement innovation whilst maintaining a positive environment for both those we support and our amazing staff group. This role is ideal for those ready for the next step on the social care career ladder.

My name is Y. I'm 17 years old. My Social Worker supported me to be accommodated at Kelvin. I had a tough journey getting here, leaving behind my family and my home torn by conflict. Staff are supporting me on learning how to live independently. I have also been enrolled at the local school and really enjoy my studies.

Sometimes, the memories of my journey can have an effect on my mental health. That's why having supportive and non-judgemental staff around is important. With their help, I believe I can build a better future for myself.

You will be:

· Responsible for the delivery of high-quality person-centred care and support

· Effective management and development of a staff team

· Communicate effectively with all those we support, their families, other professionals and agencies

· Audit and monitor all areas of systems and practice on regular basis

· Ensure that appropriate safeguards are in place

Shift working including evenings and weekends is a requirement of the post.

What’s in it for You?

When you join our team at The Mungo Foundation, you’ll enjoy numerous benefits, including:

ü Access to our benefits scheme - Mungo Money where you can enjoy; Supermarket Discounts, Fuel Savings, Cinema & Restaurant Discounts, Savings on Your Next Family Holiday, Reduced Gym Membership Costs and access to our Cycle to Work Scheme

ü Credit Union

ü Workplace Pension – subject to eligibility

ü 33 days paid annual leave

ü Extensive Training and Development opportunities

ü Employee Assistance Programme

If successful but unqualified, you will have to work towards a suitable qualification for a post at this level, in line with the SSSC Regulatory requirements but don’t worry we will support you with this.

Working with us means you’re not just starting a job; you’re joining a community of dedicated individuals making a real impact in the lives of the people we support.
