Location

This is a hybrid role, offering the flexibility to work from home with office attendance 3 days a week, travel to customer sites for meetings and project delivery could be required on occasion.

Candidates must be within a commutable distance to the office.

Hours

Standard working hours of 37.5 hours per week

Current hours are flexible within the team between typical 8am and 6pm working hours.

However, as the service expands cover may move to a shift-based system providing cover from the office between 7am and 7pm.

A shift rota is in place for out of hours cover which rotates between the team.

Role Summary

This role focusses on security technologies predominantly across the Microsoft Security Stack and other complementary technologies HybrIT has adopted. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering security services and solutions both internally and to external customers who rely on HybrIT to provide critical security functions. A core understanding of core infrastructure, client and cloud services up to 3
rd
line support level is needed to underpin the security services HybrIT provides.

This gives the right candidate a varied role and offers opportunities to support and deliver a range of internal initiatives and customer projects with emerging technologies as part of a security team within the Hybrit Managed Services division.

The managed services team places a strong emphasis on customer service, requiring the ability to engage effectively with colleagues, internal stakeholders, and clients. As an Security Engineer, you will provide a high level of service underpinned by a core knowledge of infrastructure support across the business and customer base, working collaboratively within a skilled and structured managed services environment.

Key Responsibilities

* Manage cybersecurity incidents in line with incident response frameworks, including post-incident reviews.
* Investigate and remediate security alerts using the Microsoft Security suite and other security tools.
* Proactively harden endpoints, servers, Active Directory, and cloud tenants to defined standards.
* Audit environments to identify and assess security risks and vulnerabilities.
* Provide recommendations for improvements to network devices, hypervisors, and Azure resources.
* Maintain and manage security tools, vendors, partners including SIEM, antivirus, and EDR solutions.
* Automate repeatable tasks through scripting or workflow tools where appropriate.
* Support the deployment of new security tools as part of project engagements.
* Support the expansion of security remit across multiple vendors and systems
* Provide 3rd line support overlay to support internal teams and external customers.
* Administer cloud technologies (e.g., Microsoft 365), operating systems, and server-based applications.
* Manage Active Directory, Group Policy, and related identity and device management systems.
* Perform basic network administration tasks.
* Log and process incidents and service requests via ITSM tools in line with defined procedures.
* Deliver clear client communication and maintain high standards of customer service.
* Ensure services are delivered in accordance with SLAs and KPIs.
* Operate within the ITIL framework for incident, problem, and change management.

Experience

The Ideal Candidate will have multiple years of experience working for an IT Managed Service Provider or in a service desk environment with most recent experience being in 2

line infrastructure with exposure to security as part of their most recent role.

Core Knowledge

An Security Analyst must be able to support, manage and configure the following technologies.

Security Specifics

* Microsoft Defender Suite – O365, Cloud Apps, XDR, Endpoint, Identity etc
* Anti-virus – Windows Defender, mainstream enterprise AV
* ITDR, MDR, EDR technologies
* Identity Management – Entra IAM principles, conditional access, RBAC
* Microsoft Security Centre - secure score management across M365 and Azure
* Ability to manage third-party SOC suppliers to deliver security services such as Huntress
* Vulnerability Management – Tenable IO\Nesus, Identification and remediation
* Client and Server Hardening – Windows Server & Clients
* Security Incident Management

Infrastructure and Service Desk

* Microsoft Client Systems Windows 11
* Microsoft Server Systems 2012R2+
* Microsoft Office 365 Administration
* Layer 2 network skills, both in troubleshooting and reconfiguration
* Microsoft Active Directory\Entra
* Client Management Systems (Intune, SCCM…)
* Knowledge of Firewalls and Firewall Management

Desirable Knowledge

* Microsoft Azure

CAF best practices and Landing Zones

* VDI technologies – Citrix & AVD
* Linux – Red hat & Ubuntu patching, management hardening
* Scripting (PowerShell, Python…)

* Query-based language skills (KQL, SQL…)
* Security Tools – Darktrace, Illumio, Pentera etc
* Experience with compliance accreditations (ISO27001, CyberEssentials Plus, NIST, SOC2)

Desirable or equivalent knowledge, analysts should be working towards or have attained some of the certifications below.

* Microsoft 365 Certified: Endpoint Administrator Associate (MD-102)
* Microsoft 365 Certified: Administrator Expert (MS-102)
* Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator Associate (AZ-104)
* Microsoft Certified: Security Operations Analyst Associate (SC-200)
* Microsoft Certified: Identity and Access Administrator Associate (SC-300)
* Microsoft Certified: Azure Security Engineer Associate (AZ-500)
* A networking credential (e.g. CompTIA Network+, Cisco Certified Network Associate, Fortinet Certified Associate Cybersecurity)

Career Path

HybrIT team is working on the forefront of technology with significant interesting projects which utilise the latest Microsoft products available. Candidates will have the opportunity to develop their skills, gain accreditations and gain experience supporting solutions based on these products.

Longer term the right candidate has the opportunity to specialise in a technology and go on into consultancy roles.
