Roles and Responsibilities:
Working in the MPBU Machine Shop within a seletced primary section and with the flexibility of supporting all other aspects of the machine shop.
* Undertaking a breadth of tasks including Precision Grinding, Honing, Boring, Milling, Turning, CNC Turning, Bush/Bearing Fitting working on an extensive variety of components from a wide selection of different aircraft platforms.
* Support the Machine Shop Cell Leader and Machining and Plating Manager with delivering the day to day needs of the MPBU Machine Shop operations.
* To assist, as required with the monitoring of stock levels for bonded metal and consumables.
* To assist, as required with certain elements of machine maintenance (peventative and scheduled).
* Support with the training and development of the MPBU Machine Shop Team (In particular trainees).
* Adhere to the AEM Behaviours for the MPBU Machine Shop Team, supporting the Machine Shop Cell Leader and Machining and Plating Manager.
* Support with delivering Production Planning using the Quantum Forward Load Report.
* Support with the implementation of initiatives to improve manpower utilisation and process improvement within the MPBU Machine Shop.
* Ensure quality requirements are always met.
* Support with promoting a culture of Continuous Improvement; maintain and improve housekeeping in all areas driving continuous improvement initiatives.
* Support with effective communication through MPBU Machine Shop and MPBU Operations.
* Support with continually improving safety by addressing, raising concerns for both physical safety issues and safety attitudes within the MPBU Machine Shop.
* Support with the maintenance of plant and equipment.
* Encourage progression planning for your development, ensuring accurate population and maintenance of the skills matrix.
* Ensure all training both internal and external is recorded and passed to the Quality Department.
* Support the Machine Shop team delivering results to meet the strategic objectives of MPBU and AEM.
* Adhere to industry standard QA rules and regulations.
* Ensure all relevant Standard Operating Procedures, Risk Assessments, Local Instructions are kept up to date and delivered to your team accordingly
Skills and Competencies:
* Minimum of 3 years’ experience in engineering (essential)
* Aviation background (highly desirable)
* Previous experience of working with hand tools (desirable)
* Previous experience of cylindrical, surface, internal and planetary grinding (desirable)
* Previous experience of grinding chrome (desirable)
* Previous experience of boring, turning and milling (desirable)
* Previous experience of CNC Turning and Programming (desirable)
* Computer literate - competent in Microsoft Office. (highly desirable)
* Understanding and implementation of lean process principles and their applications. (desirable)
* Understanding of Environmental, Health and Safety requirements (desirable)
* Understanding of completing and updating Risk Assessments (desirable)
