Exciting Opportunity: Business Development Manager in the Waste Management Sector
Base Salary dependent on experience.
Experience in the waste management sector essential with a minimum of 1 year in field sales
* Competitive Basic Salary: £35,000 - £45,000 (Based on Experience)
* On-Target Earnings: Basic OTE Up to £57,000 depending on experience (This is, however, Uncapped)

Our service offering spans the full spectrum of waste streams, allowing us to act as a single-source provider for organisations seeking streamlined, compliant, and cost-effective waste services.
Following a period of sustained growth and strong market performance, we are now entering our next phase of expansion. To support this, we are recruiting for a high-calibre Business Development Manager who will focus exclusively on winning new business.
This is a role for a true sales hunter – someone with the drive, resilience, and commercial acumen to identify, engage, and convert new opportunities into long-term contracts. This is not an account management position; we are looking for a proactive, self-motivated individual who thrives on generating their own leads and closing high-value deals.
About the Role
* This is a new business acquisition role focused on acquiring profitable waste management contracts across the UK.
* You will be responsible for creating and managing your own pipeline, from initial prospecting through to contract close.
* Your core objective will be to generate new revenue through strategic engagement with key decision-makers across multiple types of organisations.
* You will work closely with our operations and service teams to ensure smooth onboarding and long-term customer satisfaction.
* Remote working with 1 day every 2 weeks, working in our Head Office in York.
Key Responsibilities
* Identify and target prospects within key industry sectors.
* Work in your local area or move further afield to create new client meetings.
* Conduct in-depth needs assessments and propose tailored waste management solutions.
* Manage the full sales cycle from lead generation to contract negotiation and handover.
* Develop and execute a personal sales strategy aligned with business growth targets.
* Represent the company at client meetings & site visits.
The Ideal Candidate
* A proven B2B sales professional with a successful track record in new business development.
* Experience in the waste management sector is essential, ideally selling to large corporate or multi-site clients. If you haven't worked in this sector before, Field sales experience is essential.
* Demonstrable ability to develop and manage a personal sales pipeline from scratch.
* Strong negotiation and closing skills, with a consultative and solutions-focused approach.
* A self-starter who is comfortable working independently, but also as part of a wider commercial team.
Requirements
* 1 year minimum experience in field sales roles is essential within the waste management industry
* Strong commercial awareness and understanding of industry compliance requirements.
* Excellent communication, presentation, and relationship-building skills.
* Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel nationally if required.
