Senior Clinical Trials Pharmacy Assistant - Band 3

Pharmacy Shared Services – Based at Royal London Hospital (RLH) with rotation to Whipps Cross and Newham University Hospital with future rotation into the Clinical Research Facility.

The pharmacy clinical trials service at Barts Health has seen significant investment over the last few years and the evolving team of pharmacists, pharmacy technicians and assistants manage an ever-expanding portfolio of clinical trials. We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Pharmacy Assistant to join the team and develop skills within this exciting area.

Main duties of the job

We are looking for a self-motivated and enthusiastic person who has good organisational and communication skills and exceptional attention to detail. You will be responsible for supporting the setup and maintenance of trials being run at Barts Health, and ensure they are being managed according to the regulatory requirements for research.

The role is full time, Monday-Friday (with additional evening, weekend and bank holiday commitments). Full training and development opportunities will be provided.

Qualifications

Essential criteria

1. GCSE grades A -C or 9-4 • English Language • Maths • Science
2. NVQ QCF Level 2 in pharmacy services

Experience

Essential criteria

3. Proven experience of good performance in previous Pharmacy posts
4. Experience in hospital pharmacy clinical trials, aseptics or dispensary services
5. Experience of working in a team
6. Experience in training others
7. Experience in customer care environment

Knowledge

Essential criteria

8. Understand issues involved in stock control and medicines distribution
9. Interested in and have knowledge of the use of drugs
10. Understand the importance of quality issues
11. Understand customer care issues
12. Understanding of relevant legislation -Health and Safety -Data protection -Equality and Diversity

Desirable criteria

13. Good knowledge of all aspects of GCP and GMP

Skills

Essential criteria

14. Excellent communication skills
15. IT literate; Able to use Microsoft Office programmes proficiently
16. Able to plan own work and the supervision of others in a clear and organised way
17. Able to work alone or as part of a team, with different grades of staff
18. Good attention to detail and accuracy
19. Able to work to policies and procedures
20. Able to perform calculations
21. Good time management skills and able to meet deadlines
22. Able to communicate well with all members of the team (internal and external to Pharmacy) and externally with customers in a confident manner
23. Excellent communication skills both written and verbal, including on the telephone
24. Confident to work unsupervised, takes initiative and uses own judgement in anticipating and dealing with queries and problems
25. Able to work calmly under pressure and to deadlines

26. Able to use CMM (JAC)
