What is this role really about? At its heart, this role is about people, presence, and ownership. You’ll often be the first and last person our clients interact with — the welcoming voice on the phone, the calm and friendly presence in reception, and a key part of the overall Clarke & Roskrow experience. This is a highly visible, front-of-house role. You’ll be trusted to manage the flow of the practice, juggle multiple priorities, and help ensure that every client feels looked after — even when things get busy. This is not a back-office role, and it’s not suited to someone who prefers to stay in the background. The role includes: Welcoming clients warmly, getting to know them, and building genuine long-term relationships Being confident and professional on the phone and via email, booking appointments and handling enquiries Managing reception and client flow so the practice runs smoothly and calmly Creating a welcoming, well-presented boutique environment throughout the day Hosting clients — including serving high-quality teas, coffees, and refreshments as part of the experience Supporting the wider team so every client receives a consistent, high-quality experience A willingness to help create content for social media and the company website Handling responsibility, feedback, and day-to-day challenges with maturity and self-awareness This role is ideal for someone who: Enjoys being front-of-house and is comfortable taking responsibility Is emotionally intelligent, self-aware, and open to feedback Takes initiative rather than waiting to be told what to do Can stay calm, organised, and friendly in a fast-paced environment Has an eye for style, design, or presentation Values high standards and understands why details matter Experience in optics is helpful but not essential. Experience in luxury retail, hospitality, or high-end customer service is highly valued. What we’re not looking for This role is not suited to someone who: Feels uncomfortable being the main point of contact for clients Struggles with feedback or accountability Prefers a slow-paced or highly repetitive role Is only looking to “clock in and clock out” We’re very protective of our culture and client experience, and fit matters.
