We have an exciting opportunity in our Operational Purchasing Team within Commercial Services at University Hospitals Dorset.You will be responsible for the day to day co-ordination and supervision of colleagues who undertake the operational buying for defined areas within the trust.Along with the support of senior colleagues they will be required to liaise with a variety of colleagues and suppliers to provide a highly professional and responsive buying service that meets operational requirements and supports patient care.You should have experience of working in a purchasing, supply chain or inventory management environment and will ideally have had experience in leading or supervising a team.A good level of keyboard skills and abilities with applications including MS Word, MS Excel and MS Outlook would be required. Excellent communication skills are essential and previous experience of NHS working may be advantageous. The most important requirement for those who meet the minimum criteria will be your enthusiasm to support and lead a team and make a difference in driving value for our patients and colleagues.The role is a full time 37.5 hour week. Desirable criteria Attainment of Chartered Institute of Purchasing and Supply (CIPS): diploma level (or equivalent training and professional experience Experience Essential criteria Proven experience of working in a purchasing and/or supplies function or can evidence transferable skills Supplier negotiations Desirable criteria Experience in supervision of small operational team of people engaged in time critical customer service.Experience of working in a multi-functional service industry or public sector organisationManagement experience. Knowledge / Technical competancies Essential criteria Good keyboard skills with working knowledge of applications including MS Word, MS Excel and MS OutlookGood time management and organisational skills.Awareness and understanding of public procurement processes. Desirable criteria Intermediate ability in use of MS office applicationsPresentation skills. Personal Attributes Essential criteria Team player with good communication skills, able to motivate and work with a busy teamAbility to work under pressure and to deadlines
