The post holder will be employed by Greenwich Health, the GP Federation in Greenwich. Greenwich has 6 primary care networks (PCNs) with list sizes of between 30-80,000 patients. The post holder will work for Riverview PCN, a grouping of 5 practices, and will work across the practices within this PCN.
The role is part of a multi‑disciplinary team in a patient‑facing capacity and works under the supervision of the Clinical Pharmacist. By providing safe, accurate and timely supply of prescribed medication, the holder contributes to successful clinical management of patients and builds capacity and capability in the workforce.

Role: Primary Care Network Pharmacy Technician
Location: Woolwich (Head Office)/Woolwich, Thamesmead, Plumstead (Practice Sites), South East London
Hours: 40 hours per week (Full‑time)

Key Responsibilities
The post holder will:
 * Adhere to organisational policies, procedures and legislation.
 * Maintain satisfactory personal performance and professional standards, achieving agreed objectives.
 * Attend mandatory training and participate in the Performance Appraisal Scheme.
 * Ensure professional indemnity is suitable for the range of work undertaken.
 * Authorise changes to prescribing records within the practice, by written agreement or GP signature for specific audits.
 * Provide technical and administrative support to the Clinical Pharmacists and clinicians.
 * Support the primary care teams with medication queries from patients and staff, face‑to‑face and telephone.
 * Work independently under the direction of the clinical pharmacist, managing own workload.
 * Use excellent communication skills to liaise with patients, primary care staff, community pharmacists and other partners.
 * Process repeat medication requests, including conversions of acute requests to repeat medicines, quantity changes, syncing of patient medications, e‑rec, arrangement of compliance aids.
 * Issue prescriptions within clinical protocols and direct queries to appropriate clinicians.
 * Conduct medication reviews in clinics, domiciliary visits, residential and nursing homes, delivering pharmaceutical care plans.
 * Update and maintain accurate medication records on the clinical computer system.
 * Provide advice on medication optimisation and lifestyle, e.g., inhaler techniques.
 * Support safe repeat prescribing of high‑risk medicines with regular monitoring.
 * Conduct medication reconciliation following hospital discharge, clinic visits and other transfers of care.
 * Assist with data analysis of prescribing behaviour, support medicines audits, and contribute to achieving prescribing targets such as QOF and IIF.
 * Liaise with secondary, community and primary care colleagues, hospital and community pharmacy to resolve discrepancies and supply issues.
 * Attend relevant meetings on prescribing or medicines‑related initiatives.
Professional Experience and Person Specification
Essential Qualifications
 * Registered with the GPhC.
 * BTEC/NVQ Level 3 or equivalent in pharmacy services.
 * Alternative approved training pathway, e.g. Primary Care Pharmacy Educational Pathway (PCPEP) or Medicines Optimisation in Care Homes (MOCH).
Experience
 * Evidence of Continuing Professional Development and ongoing commitment.
 * Demonstrable post‑qualification experience as a technician in primary care, hospital or community pharmacy.
 * Ability to dispense prescriptions to the highest standard, including manipulation of tools and preparation of complex formulations.
 * Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
 * Negotiation and interpersonal skills.
 * Competency in IT and common software packages (e.g., MS Office).
 * Capacity to work independently, plan, organise and prioritise workload, including coping with pressure.
 * Willingness to travel to locations across the PCN.
Desirable
 * Experience working within primary care.
 * Experience in project management.
 * Working knowledge of prescribing data and GP practice computer systems.
 * Experience with audits and audit programmes.
 * Experience with clinical risk management.
 * EMIS and/or VISION user skills.
Knowledge and Skills
 * Appreciation of the nature of GP general practices.
