Job Purpose
As an Apprentice Light Motor Vehicle Maintenance and Repair Mechanic, you will work alongside experienced technicians to learn how to inspect, service, and repair a wide range of light motor vehicles. This hands-on role combines practical workshop experience with structured training, leading to a nationally recognised qualification.
Key Responsibilities
* Assist in diagnosing and repairing mechanical and electrical faults in light vehicles.
* Carry out routine vehicle servicing and maintenance under supervision.
* Learn to use diagnostic equipment and tools safely and effectively.
* Maintain accurate records of work completed and parts used.
* Follow health and safety procedures at all times.
* Keep the workshop clean, organised, and compliant with safety standards.
* Attend off-the-job training sessions as part of the apprenticeship programme.
* Work collaboratively with team members and contribute to a positive working environment.

Working Hours
40 hours, 8.30am to 5pm
Requirements
Required Skills
* A genuine interest in motor vehicles and mechanics.
* Good problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
* Willingness to learn and follow instructions.
* Basic understanding of maths, English, and science (GCSEs or equivalent preferred).
* Reliable, punctual, and a strong team player.
* Commitment to completing the full apprenticeship programme.
Desirable
* Previous work experience or studies in a related field (e.g., motor vehicle studies).
* A full UK driving licence or working towards obtaining one (age permitting).
Required Qualities
Committed with a desire to learn.
Required Qualifications
GCSE maths and English grade 4 of above (or equivalent, i.e. level 2 functional skills).
Adults age 19+ are no longer required to evidence maths and English qualifications, however it is still desirable.
