Location: Warrington Working Location: Hybrid working - 2 days minimum in the office each week Hours of work: 37.5 hours per week As a Principal Mechanical Engineer, you will be involved in: Delivering and managing technical engineering studies. Ownership of mechanical engineering processes, from strategic and conceptual phases to detailed design, manufacture design and construction & commissioning phase support. Typical deliverables will be issued: technical notes, substantiation reports, Mechanical Flow Diagrams and flowsheets, mechanical drawings, P&IDs and mechanical layout drawings, hazards and malfunctions management, technical/manufacturing specification documentation review from supply chain. Technical studies related to mechanical handling for both handling operations and heavy mechanical transfer systems, powder mechanical processes (transport, milling, and compaction) in high active environment and gloveboxes, compaction and mechanical dismantling technologies. Communications and answering of Technical Queries with Manufactures to ensure specifications and design intent are being adhered to. Communication-ability to confidently liaise with external stakeholders and team members, both oral and written. Proactivity - ability to independently seek out or develop one's own answer to challenging technical questions. Organisational excellence - ability to organise one's own time and the time of others to ensure internal / external deadlines are achieved and Client expectations are exceeded. Reactivity - ability to respond quickly and effectively to unforeseen situations. Leadership - desire to lead and support the development of more junior members of the team. Qualifications A degree in Mechanical Engineering, or other relevant degree. 7-8 years' experience as a Mechanical Engineer in Nuclear sector is a must have. Chartered member of a professional body (IMechE) or work towards it Experience working with multi-cultural teams Knowledge of engineering design (development, FEED, detailed design, technical specification, documentation review from supply chain) and engineering team management in the nuclear industry or other regulated sectors. Knowledge of mechanical studies delivery (Mechanical handling, powder technologies) considering manufacture, testing, construction commissioning, operation, maintenance recovery and decommissioning aspects.
