Description Salary £37,101 - £51,048 Per annum | Permanent| Full Time & Part Time| Hybrid Roles Job title: Qualified Teacher of Vision Impairment/ Multisensory Impairment (QTVI/QTMSI) Specialist Teaching Service (STS) MPS-UPS (£37,101 - £51,048) Special Educational Needs (SEN) Allowance (£2,787/ £5,497 – candidates with MQ only) Lancashire County Council is seeking to appoint several Qualified Teachers of Vision/Multisensory Impaired Children & Young People to join the growing Specialist Teaching Service (STS). The successful candidates will work across Lancashire supporting children and young people who are vision impaired and/or have a multisensory impairment. The Specialist Teaching Service is a peripatetic teaching service that consists of highly qualified and experienced Specialist Teachers, Higher Level Teaching Assistants, Deaf Role Model and Sensory Technicians. We work closely with parents/carers and other agencies to support children and young people in a range of settings including at home, early years settings, schools and colleges. The service supports the youngest children with SEND, from birth, through Portage and early years sensory support. The role of the QTVI/MSI will consist of: Supporting babies, children and young people who are vision or multisensory impaired within homes and a range of early years settings, schools and colleges across Lancashire. Working in partnership with parents & carers, education professionals and other agencies to meet the individual needs of the children and young people. Identifying and assessing needs, identifying appropriate outcomes and targets to work towards, as well as contributing to the Education Health and Care Needs assessment process. Providing advice, guidance and support to parents/carers and education professionals to implement appropriate strategies and approaches to support development, learning and access to education for vision or multisensory impaired children and young people. Managing a caseload effectively. Using IT effectively to teach and for maintaining records accurately. Participating in professional develop opportunities, sharing new learning and experiences with colleagues and contributing to the development of the service. We are looking for an enthusiastic, highly motivated Qualified Teacher of Vision Impaired and/or Multisensory Impaired Children and Young People who will contribute to the key work of the Specialist Teaching Service by: Having strong SEND values with the vision and determination to make a difference Being committed to an inclusive approach to education. Being accountable for improving outcomes for all babies, children and young people. Showing evidence of experience of working with babies, children and young people with a range of special educational needs, including vision/ multi-sensory impairment, and ensuring they receive a high-quality educational experience that meets their needs Advocating for children with a vision / multisensory impairment, including working collaboratively with their families, and education professionals. Being able to advise and support schools, establishing clear actions for all partners, and evaluate the progress being made against these. Confidently modelling teaching approaches to setting, school and college staff appropriate for vision / multisensory impaired children and young people, raising standards for children with SEND. The successful candidates will be qualified teachers, with the mandatory qualification in teaching children and young people with a vision impairment and/or multisensory impairment or equivalent, or the willingness to undertake the two-year part-time qualification course. These posts are not suitable for NQTs.
