Hours: 35 hours per week, fixed term for 12 months
Salary: £40, - £46, per year

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a full time Social Worker in the Justice Throughcare team in South Lanarkshire.This is a 12 month temporary post to cover maternity leave.

The Justice Throughcare Team provides supervision; risk management; support and intervention for individuals on their release from custody.This is a challenging and rewarding role combining public protection with rehabilitation for individuals with often complex needs at a crucial stage in their desistance journey.

Duties of the post include forming productive relationships with service users prior to release and while in the community; completing Throughcare Assessment for Release on Licence (TARL) reports for the Parole Board and supervision of statutory licences including for individuals subject to MAPPA up to Level 2 and Category 3.

We are looking for a committed and enthusiastic individual to provide a professional service to our service user groups. We would welcome applications from registered Social Workers and from Final Year Degree in Social Work Students looking to start their career as a Social Worker in the Justice Services. Final year students must be qualified within 2 months of submitting their application form.

You will have a Social Work degree with knowledge of Justice Services and a clear understanding of risk assessment and management. The ability to priorities your workload and sound assessment and writing and communication skills are also essential for this post. You will be expected to record and monitor work using electronic case recording systems.You will be committed to working with our service users in a pro-active and non-judgemental manner in the community to address their risks and needs and promote public safety.

Please study the job profile and detail your skills, knowledge and experience that would be relevant to the role of Social Worker in a Justice locality team.

1. Can you give an example of when you have been required to respond unexpectedly to the changing needs of either a service user you managed or the service you have worked for, and how you managed this?
2. Justice Social Work involves a high level of partnership working often with a number of different agencies involved in one case. Can you describe a situation where you have worked on a multi-agency basis; what your contribution was and what outcomes were achieved?
3. What in your view are the key challenges facing people in conflict with the law and how would you seek to address these challenges in this role?
4. SLC require all new qualified Justice Social Workers to undertake ViSOR vetting. This allows staff to access the Home Office System that both Police and Social Work record information pertaining the management of registered sex offenders. South Lanarkshire Justice Services are committed to the use of ViSOR and its role in public protection. To use this system you require to be vetted by completing a vetting form that asks details on sensitive personal information. Do you agree to this vetting?
