Senior Java Developer ( Contractor )
up to £850 inside IR- 35
We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Java Engineer to join a team building a next-generation OEM platform within a high-growth, global organization. This role sits at the core of a strategic platform build, focusing on developing scalable, high-performance systems that support complex data, pricing, and risk-driven workflows.
You will play a key role in designing and delivering foundational infrastructure from the ground up, working closely with business stakeholders, engineers, and product teams to create robust and innovative solutions in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities
* Design, develop, and maintain scalable Java-based systems for core platform functionality
* Build and enhance architecture to support complex data processing, pricing, and risk-related workflows
* Develop high-performance, low-latency systems using Aeron and efficient messaging patterns
* Implement and optimize concurrent and multithreaded applications
* Work on event-driven and distributed systems to ensure high performance and reliability
* Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to translate business requirements into technical solutions
* Participate in the full software development lifecycle, from requirements gathering through to deployment
* Ensure systems are optimized for scalability, performance, and resilience
* Conduct code reviews and promote best practices across development teams
* Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues across platform components
* Engage with stakeholders to define technical roadmaps and deliver aligned solutions
Required Skills & Experience
* 7+ years of hands-on experience in Java development with strong object-oriented design skills
* Strong experience with Aeron for low-latency messaging and high-throughput systems
* Deep understanding of concurrent programming, multithreading, and performance optimization
* Experience building distributed or event-driven architectures
* Strong understanding of data platforms, APIs, and system integration
* Proven experience owning delivery across the full SDLC
* Experience working with complex data sets (market, reference, or similar)
* Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to work independently
* Excellent communication skills and ability to work with both technical and non-technical stakeholders
