Overview
We are seeking a Senior Respiratory Physiologist to work unsupervised as a competent respiratory practitioner, undertaking lung function tests as well as sleep analysis and CPAP clinics. The successful candidate will be involved in the setup of new services and support the community respiratory service by ensuring community clinic reports are sent within deadline targets. The role includes training and supervision of trainee respiratory Physiologists and ATO staff, ensuring quality standards are maintained.
Responsibilities
* Competent in all routine investigations in the department including Spirometry +/- reversibility, respiratory muscle strength, and full lung function tests (nitrogen washout method).
* Undertake fitting and analysis of limited channel sleep studies and overnight oximetry.
* Issue new CPAP devices and undertake follow-up clinics both by telephone and face-to-face.
* Support the community respiratory service by ensuring community clinic reports are sent within deadline targets.
* Participate in the training and supervision of the trainee respiratory Physiologists and ATO staff, ensuring quality standards are maintained.
* Provide administrative support as required.
* Maintain clinical competencies.
* Work in conjunction with other staff to ensure the service needs are met.
* Perform spirometry in a community clinic when required.
* Involved with setting up new services within the department.
Qualifications
* ARTP Spirometry certificate
* BSc Clinical Physiology or equivalent
Experience
* Essential: Minimum of 2 years post-qualification experience
* AHCS/RCCP registered
* Desirable: Experience with limited sleep studies
Skills, knowledge and competencies
* Competent in recording and interpreting spirometry and full pulmonary function tests
* Experience training junior staff
* Good IT skills
* Desirable: Experience of CPAP clinics using auto and fixed pressure devices; Analysis of limited sleep studies
