Role Overview
We are expanding our network of Specialist Surgical Assistants for ad-hoc and short-term assignments across the UK.
This role is ideal for experienced practitioners seeking flexible, well-remunerated private-sector work within a professional and supportive team.
Assignments are typically consultant-led lists, with clear case details and direct liaison through our operations team.
Responsibilities
* Provide skilled first assistance during complex surgical procedures within your area of expertise, for example, cardiac (endoscopic radial artery and/or saphenous vein harvesting for CABG), orthopaedic, laparoscopic, and robotic (da Vinci) surgery.
* Ensure safe and efficient peri-operative support, maintaining surgical field exposure, haemostasis, and instrument handling to the highest standards.
* Liaise with consultants, scrub teams, and theatre coordinators to ensure seamless case delivery.
* Adhere to all relevant governance, infection-control, and confidentiality requirements.
* Represent Advance Surgical professionally at all times.
Qualifications & Experience
* Essential:
* NMC, GMC, or HCPC registration.
* Experience assisting in one or more of the following specialties: cardiac, orthopaedic, laparoscopic, or robotic surgery.
* Competence in endoscopic radial artery and/or saphenous vein harvesting (EVH/SVH) for cardiac assignments.
* Proficiency in assisting with the da Vinci robotic system (patient-side) for robotic surgery assignments.
